Dhaka, March 1 -- Jamaat-e-Islami chief Shafiqur Rahman has expressed "deep sorrow" over the death of Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, who was killed in US-Israeli air strikes in Tehran.

In a post on X on Sunday, Shafiqur described Khamenei's death as a "martyrdom" and extended condolences to the Iranian people.

"I am deeply saddened by the news of the martyrdom of Iran's Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. I extend my heartfelt condolences to the people of Iran during this difficult time. May Allah grant them patience and strength in their grief," he wrote.
