Dhaka, March 13 -- The village home of a leader of NCP's student affiliate Jatiya Chhatra Shakti who allegedly beat a Dhaka University student over suspicions that he was involved with the Chhatra League, has been torched.

The incident took place at the house of Ali Hossain Bepari in Domghata village of Dhobaura Upazila in Mymensingh on Friday morning, said Dhobaura Police Station chief Md Shafiqul Islam.

Ali Hossain Bepari's son Saifullah is the organising secretary of the Dhaka University wing of the Jatiya Chhatra Shakti.

Ali Hossain, organiser of Mymensingh Chhatra Shakti, said: "We visited the scene in the morning after receiving news of a fire at Saifullah's house."
