Dhaka, April 14 -- Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed has announced that a nationwide special drive will soon be launched against human trafficking and drug smuggling.
Speaking as the chief guest at a Farmer Card distribution ceremony at Teknaf Ejahar Government High School, the minister described drug addiction as a "formidable social malady" misleading the country's youth.
The minister identified Teknaf, Ukhiya, and Cox's Bazar as the most vulnerable zones for human trafficking.
"Law enforcing agencies have already been briefed to intensify surveillance in these high-risk areas," he said.
"We are identifying the specific points used by criminals to conduct organised raids," the minister said.
