Dhaka, Feb. 27 -- Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives Minister Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has said the investigation into the killing of police members during the July Uprising will proceed in line with the position taken by the home minister.

Speaking to reporters on Friday after inaugurating a new building at Hajipara Hafezia Madrasa in Thakurgaon town, Fakhrul said the probe would be conducted swiftly.

"Whatever the home minister has said about investigating the police killings during the July Uprising, that will prevail," he said.

"Also, if necessary, an investigation will be conducted, because the matters are in court."
