Dhaka, April 27 -- The High Court has directed the Election Commission (EC) to accept the nomination paper of Nusrat Tabassum, a leader of the National Citizen Party (NCP), for the elections to the reserved women's seats in the parliament.
The bench of Justice Ahmed Sohel and Justice Fatema Anwar passed the order on Monday along with a rule.
Advocates Mohammad Hossain, Md Moniruzzaman, and Zahirul Islam Musa represented Nusrat in court.
The EC had earlier rejected her candidacy on the grounds that she failed to submit her documents within the stipulated time on Apr 22.
According to the election schedule, the deadline for filing nominations for the parliament's reserved seats was 4pm on that day.
