HC gives no relief on plea to run sleeper buses on highways
Bangladesh, Sept. 9 -- The High Court has turned down a plea seeking protection from enforcement action against sleeper buses, saying only vehicles approved under existing road transport laws can operate on the roads.
The bench of Justice KM Hafizul Alam and Justice Murad-A-Mowla Sohel issued the order on Wednesday.
The court said buses must comply with the Road Transport Act 2018 and the Road Transport Rules 2022 and have the necessary approval from the Bangladesh Road Transport Authority (BRTA).
It also said there was no bar to taking legal action against unapproved buses or vehicles operating outside the law.
