Dhaka, Sept. 16 -- The deputy commissioner of Gulshan police has been transferred days after a flash march by activists of the Awami League and its affiliated organisations, whose activities are banned.

M Tanvir Ahmed was attached to Dhaka Metropolitan Police Headquarters under an order issued on Wednesday.

The transfer came hours after Gulshan Police chief Md Daud Hossain was withdrawn and attached to the DMP's central reserve office.

Both transfers took effect immediately. Tanvir's order said he was being attached to headquarters "for administrative reasons until further notice".

The move comes five days after Awami League activists staged a flash march in Gulshan on Sept 11.
