Dhaka, Sept. 23 -- The government has approved the purchase of two additional cargoes of liquefied natural gas (LNG) from QatarEnergy Trading LLC under a long-term government-to-government (G2G) agreement as Bangladesh seeks to shore up gas supplies.

The Cabinet Committee on Government Purchase (CCGP) approved the proposal on Wednesday, according to the Ministry of Finance.

The decision came at a meeting chaired by Finance Minister Amir Khosru Mahmud Chowdhury. He joined the meeting online from New York, where he is attending the UN General Assembly.

The two LNG cargoes are scheduled for delivery on Nov 6 and Nov 22.
