Dhaka, June 11 -- The government has listed several projects in the proposed budget to develop the communications sector, including 3,000km of expressways, a modern public transport network with six metro rail lines, and a cordline on the Dhaka-Cumilla section of the Dhaka-Chattogram Railway.

On Thursday, Finance Minister Amir Khosru Mahmud Chowdhury proposed a budget of Tk 9.38 trillion for the 2026-27 fiscal year, where he proposed to allocate Tk 607.3 billion for developing communication infrastructure in the 2026-27 fiscal year.

The revised budget allocation for this sector for the fiscal year 2025-26 was Tk 482.92 billion, and it has been proposed to increase that allocation by Tk 124.38 billion, a 25.75 percent hike.
