Dhaka, Sept. 21 -- Fuel price increases have prompted the Bangladesh Inland Container Depots Association (BICDA), representing private container depot owners, to raise container handling charges by 9.85 percent.

The association issued a notice on Monday announcing the increase.

BICDA Secretary General Ruhul Amin Sikder told bdnews24.com, "The government has increased fuel prices by Tk 20 per litre from [Monday]. Accordingly, diesel prices have risen 17.4 percent, from Tk 115 to Tk 135.

"We have different rates at different stages of container handling. We have increased all of them by an average of 9.85 percent, effective from today."
