Dhaka, April 7 -- A dramatic shift has shaken the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) as Tamim Iqbal formally assumed the role of board chief while outgoing president Aminul Islam Bulbul left office amid the announcement of a new ad hoc committee.

Tamim's appointment was announced shortly after 4pm on Tuesday, and by 6pm, the former national captain set foot at the BCB office to take his place at the helm, signalling a fresh chapter in Bangladesh cricket.

His tenure will extend for a maximum of three months, during which the ad hoc committee under his leadership must organise elections, with Tamim expected to play a central role.

Earlier in the day, Bulbul and his executive board quietly left the premises.
