Dhaka, March 10 -- Shah Alam, the former Awami League lawmaker from Pirojpur-2, has been released from jail as there was no complaint or case against him.
He was freed from Dhaka Central Jail in Keraniganj on Tuesday, his lawyer Kayesh Ahmed Arnob said.
Ramna police detained him from an Iftar party at the Institute of Engineers premises in the capital on Feb 28 after a group of people angrily objected to his presence there.
On information, police soon nabbed him from the spot and produced him before a Dhaka court the next day, accusing him of working for the Awami League during the Anti-discrimination Student Movement in 2024.
