Foreign advisor rejects 'barbed wire intimidation' after West Bengal border plan
Dhaka, May 11 -- Prime Minister's Foreign Affairs Advisor Humaiun Kobir has said Bangladesh will not be intimidated by any attempt to extend barbed wire fencing along the border, following a decision by West Bengal's new BJP government to provide land for the project.
Speaking at the foreign ministry on Monday, he said the matter would be addressed at an "appropriate place" if necessary.
Kobir added that there is a clear distinction between election rhetoric and actual governance.
"We want to observe for some time whether what was said during elections is reflected in governance," he said, referring to Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari's administration.
