Bangladesh, Aug. 25 -- A Dhaka court has placed a food delivery worker on five days' remand in connection with the assault on Prof Mohammad Asadur Rahman, head of the ENT department at Dhaka Medical College Hospital.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Hasan Shahadat passed the order on Tuesday against Jibon alias Adil, prosecution department Sub-Inspector Rokonuzzaman said.

Asadur was attacked in Dhaka's Shantinagar around 10pm on Aug 17.

Jibon was arrested at the scene and sent to jail the following day.

On Aug 19, Paltan Police Sub-Inspector (SI) Atikuzzaman, also the investigating officer in the case, sought a 10-day remand for Jibon.

The court fixed Tuesday for a hearing in the presence of the suspect.
