Dhaka, May 1 -- Florida police have confirmed that a body they recovered is that of Nahida Sultana Bristy, a Bangladeshi national who had gone to study in America.

In a statement issued on Friday, the Bangladesh Embassy in Washington cited Bristy's family, saying: "Today (May 1, 2026), the Florida Police Department called Nahida Sultana Bristy's brother and confirmed that the second body recovered was that of Bristy.

"Bristy's family has requested that the body be sent to Bangladesh. The Bangladesh Embassy in Washington, DC, is initiating the process of sending Bristy's body back to the country through the Bangladesh Consulate in Miami."
