Bangladesh, July 9 -- Floods and cyclones caused an estimated Tk 412 billion in damage across Bangladesh between 2021 and 2025, Disaster Management and Relief Minister Asadul Habib Dulu has said.

Responding to a question in the parliament from reserved-seat MP Sabikun Nahar on Thursday, the minister cited data from the Department of Disaster Management.

According to the figures, floods accounted for Tk 292.77 billion in losses during the five-year period, while cyclones caused damage worth Tk 119.23 billion.

The minister said a total of 249 people lost their lives in floods and cyclones between 2021 and 2025.

Of them, 190 died in floods and 59 in cyclones.
