Dhaka, Oct. 3 -- A fire has erupted at a garment factory in Gazipur.

Fire Service official Anwarul Islam said the incident at Matrix Styles Limited factory in the Fakir Market area of Gazi Degir Chala was reported around 2:45pm on Saturday.

A Fire Service vehicle reached the eight-storey building within five minutes began efforts to put out the flames on the second floor.

By 4:15pm, nine units were working at the scene, while firefighters had rescued 67 people from the building, according to the Fire Service.

No casualties had been reported.

Firefighters were continuing efforts to put out the blaze and rescue anyone remaining inside.

The Fire Service said further searches would be carried out once the fire was extinguished.
