Dhaka, May 19 -- A fire that broke out at the Kolmilota Bazar in Dhaka's Bijoy Sarani has been brought under control after nearly two hours of effort.

The Fire Service and Civil Defence said the blaze was reported at 5:15am on Tuesday.

It was then contained around 7am thanks to the work of 10 firefighting units, according to Anowarul Islam, a spokesman for the Fire Service.

He said, "The Fire Service received word of the fire at 5:14am. Then, the first three units from the Fire Service arrived at the scene around 5:20am and began trying to tame the blaze."

A total of 10 firefighting units from the Tejgaon, Mohammadpur, Mirpur, and Siddiquebazar fire stations eventually joined the operation.
