Dhaka, March 7 -- Ferry services on the Paturia-Daulatdia river route have resumed after being suspended for around two hours due to dense fog.

Operations returned to normal around 9:30am on Saturday, according to Abdus Salam, acting deputy general manager of the Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Corporation (BIWTC).

He said authorities halted ferry movement around 7:30am as thick fog reduced visibility on the river, raising the risk of accidents.

During the suspension, two ferries were stranded mid-river.

After the fog lifted, ferry operations resumed and the vessels were able to return safely to the terminals, Salam said.
