Bangladesh, Aug. 14 -- The US Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) has been searching for a Bangladeshi doctor for nearly three decades over allegations that he raped a patient.

The doctor, Zahidul Islam, worked at a hospital in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

The FBI has posted on social media at least seven times this year seeking information about him.

Zahidul is accused not only of rape but also of fleeing to evade prosecution.

According to FBI records, he was accused of raping a woman patient in October 1996. An arrest warrant was issued against him in July 1997.

In a Facebook post, the FBI said Zahidul may have connections in New York and Montreal, Canada. He may be accompanied by his wife, who is also a doctor.
