Dhaka, May 10 -- Prime Minister Tarique Rahman says the government expects the police to do everything they can to ensure the safety of people's lives and property.

He said, "The current government, formed by the people's verdict, is a reflection of the aspirations of the people who love democracy and freedom after the bloody mass uprising by students in 2024, and as a continuation of the anti-fascist movement and struggle for over a decade and a half.

"The oppressed and repressed people, who have been victims of numerous attacks and cases for years, want peace and security during the current democratic government."
