Dhaka, April 26 -- Eight people have been killed and several others injured in lightning strikes across four districts of Bangladesh.

Police and local representatives said the deaths occurred at different times on Sunday.

Three people, including an SSC examinee, were killed in Sundarganj Upazila of Gaibandha.

Two people each died in Sirajganj and Jamalpur, while one person was killed in Atwari Upazila of Panchagarh.

Three people were killed and another injured in a lightning strike in South Dhopadanga village under Dhopadanga Union in Sundarganj Upazila at around 3pm on Sunday.

The dead were identified as Fuad Hasan Chowdhury, 22, his cousin Rafi Chowdhury, 10, and Mizanur Rahman, 16, an SSC candidate.
