Dhaka, April 16 -- The government has appointed Prof Khan Moinuddin Al Mahmud Sohel as the director general of the Directorate of Secondary and Higher Education (DSHE).

Through the appointment on Thursday, Sohel will now handle additional responsibilities alongside serving as the personal secretary to Education Minister ANM Ehsanul Hoque Milon.

He had been hired as the directorate's director (secondary education).

The promotion empowers him with "financial authority", and he will serve as the DSHE

chief until a regular appointment is made to the post.
