Dhaka, April 21 -- Eastern University has marked the Bangla New Year with a daylong celebration organised by its Cultural Club.

The event brought together teachers, students, officials, staff, and alumni in a festive atmosphere on Monday, read a media statement.

Vice-Chancellor Prof Farid A Sobhani attended the event as the chief guest, extending new year greetings to all.

He said Pahela Baishakh is a moment to reconnect with cultural roots, adding that universities should nurture both knowledge and cultural values.

Treasurer Prof Md Shamsul Huda said the occasion reflects the richness of Bengali culture, noting that students' participation showed growing cultural awareness.
