Dhaka, April 14 -- East West University (EWU) has celebrated Pahela Baishakh, the first day of the Bengali New Year 1433, with a range of festivities.

The day was met with "great enthusiasm and a wide array of colourful programmes" on its campus in Dhaka's Aftabnagar, the university said in a media statement.

The day-long celebration featured a vibrant rally, cultural performances, and a traditional Baishakhi Mela, or fair.
