Dhaka, March 16 -- Abdus Salam, administrator of Dhaka South City Corporation, has said he hopes it will not rain on Eid day, as Prime Minister Tarique Rahman is expected to offer Eid prayers at the National Eidgah ground.

He made the remarks on Monday while inspecting preparations for the Eid congregation at the National Eidgah and speaking to journalists.

"Prime Minister Tarique Rahman will offer Eid prayers here. We invited him, and he has accepted," said Salam.

Referring to the Bangladesh Meteorological Department's forecast of possible rain on Eid day, the administrator said: "I hope it does not rain on Eid day. The prime minister will pray here."
