Dhaka, May 14 -- A suspected drug dealer has been snatched from police custody after attackers assaulted two police officers during an anti-narcotics raid in Lalmonirhat's Hatibandha Upazila.

Hatibandha Police chief Ramzan Ali said the incident took place in Middle Singimari on Thursday afternoon.

The injured officers are Assistant Sub-Inspectors Ayub Ali and Rafiqul Islam of the station. They received primary treatment at a local hospital.

Police and locals said a team conducted the anti-drug operation in Middle Singimari village following a tip-off.

During the drive, police detained a suspected drug trader, whose associates allegedly launched a sudden attack on police with locally made weapons.
