Dhaka, March 31 -- The driver of a car has been shot and injured as the vehicle carrying a Bangladeshi expatriate returning from Saudi Arabia was allegedly attacked by a gang of robbers in Narayanganj's Sonargaon Upazila.
The incident occurred around 7am on Tuesday near the Ashariarchar Bridge of Pirojpur Union on the Dhaka-Chittagong Highway, said Sonargaon Police chief Md Mohibullah.
Md Firoz Mia, 30, who was shot in the right leg, is being treated at Dhaka Medical College Hospital, police said.
The expatriate was identified as 55-year-old Md Delwar Hossain, a resident of Chandpur Sadar.
He boarded the for-hire car from Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka to go to his village home in Chandpur in the wee hours of Tuesday.
