Dhaka, April 12 -- Dhaka Metropolitan Police Commissioner Md Sarwar has said all Pahela Baishakh celebrations in the capital must conclude within the stipulated time, with strict security measures in place across venues and procession routes.

He made the remarks while inspecting Ramna Park on Sunday, the main venue for the Bengali New Year celebrations, where he reviewed security arrangements ahead of the programme.

The commissioner said no masks, bags, sharp objects or flammable materials will be allowed inside the venue.

The DMP also banned lanterns, fireworks and loud musical instruments that could cause noise pollution.
