Dhaka, May 11 -- Rail communication between Dhaka and Mymensingh has returned to normal three hours after a fire in the engine of an intercity train brought services to a halt.
The disruption began around 4:30pm on Monday when a fire broke out in the engine of the Mohanganj Express near Aulianagar station in Trishal Upazila.
The route was cleared around 7:30pm after a relief engine towed the stranded train into the station, said Mymensingh Railway Police chief Akter Hossain.
Railway authorities said the driver of the Netrokona-bound Mohanganj Express, which had departed from Dhaka, noticed smoke billowing out from underneath the engine and immediately stopped the train.
The fire was later brought under control.
