Dhaka, Sept. 30 -- Bangladesh has reported six new dengue deaths and 1,948 hospital admissions from the Aedes mosquito-borne disease in the last 24 hours.

According to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), the latest figures have taken this year's dengue death toll to 245, with 148 deaths recorded in September alone, the highest monthly total so far this year.

The health directorate bulletin said on Tuesday that 189 patients were admitted to hospitals in Dhaka North City Corporation and 210 in Dhaka South during the period.

Outside the two city corporations, 320 patients were admitted in other hospitals across Dhaka Division.
