Dhaka, June 27 -- The daughter of Narail-2 MP and Jamaat-e-Islami leader Ataur Rahman Bachchu has reportedly been named as a recipient on the list of donations from his "voluntary funds" from the government exchequer.

As the matter came to light, Bachchu claimed that his personal assistant (PS) had submitted the initial list.

The Jamaat MP said he did not get "a chance" to check the list.

The photo of a letter issued by the Parliament Secretariat on Jun 18 clearing the donation has been widely discussed and made the rounds on social media.

MPs receive an annual allocation of up to Tk 500,000 for expenditure on public welfare activities. The allocation is commonly known as the optional grant fund.
