Dhaka, March 24 -- The Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) has arrested the primary suspect in the case filed over the devastating collision between a train and a bus at Cumilla's Paduar Bazar, which left 12 people dead.

Helal Uddin, a gateman at the level crossing, was apprehended on Tuesday evening during a raid in Shankuchail of Burichang Upazila, according to Tahura Jannat, superintendent of police for the Railway's Chattogram region.

A manhunt is under way for the second suspect Mehedi Hasan.

RAB officials said a press briefing would be held following a preliminary interrogation of the arrested suspect.

The accident occurred around 3am last Saturday at the Paduar Bazar level crossing on the Dhaka-Chattogram Highway.
