Dhaka, Sept. 28 -- Container deliveries at Chittagong Port have resumed after truck, prime mover and trailer drivers and workers halted operations for nearly six hours following the assault of a trailer worker.

The suspension was withdrawn after a meeting at the port building on Monday night, attended by representatives of several transport owners' and workers' organisations, police officials and port authorities.

Container delivery operations resumed shortly after 10pm.

Shamsuzzaman Sumon, social welfare secretary of the Inter-District Truck Covered Van Owners Association, told bdnews24.com: "We raised our demands and problems at the meeting. [On Tuesday], we will submit our demands to the port authority in a written memorandum.
