Dhaka, Aug. 10 -- A Dhaka court has sought an explanation from two Bhatara Police officers over a request to show former major Md Sadikul Haque arrested in a car-burning case while he was reportedly in jail.

During Monday's hearing, Sadikul's lawyer told the court he was behind bars when the incident occurred about a year ago.

The court then questioned how he could have been involved from jail.

Bhatara Police chief Mazharul Islam and Sub-Inspector Md Chand Ali, the investigating officer, must explain the matter by Aug 16, when the case will be heard again, prosecution Sub-Inspector (SI) Kamal Hossain said.
