Dhaka, April 14 -- Assailants have broken into a house and hacked a college student to death in the Kajla area of Dhaka's Jatrabari.

Attacked with sharp weapons, the woman's mother had her hand cut off at the wrist, while two of her siblings were also injured in the attack.

The deceased, 20-year-old Dia, was a student of Shaikh Burhanuddin Post Graduate College in Dhaka.

Her mother Nusrat Jahan Mousumi, younger sister Jaya, 12, and brother Muaz Ahmed, 15, were also injured in the incident.

They have been admitted to a private hospital. Nabu Ullah, Dia's father, was not present at home when the incident occurred.

Police believe the incident early on Tuesday, was motivated by a financial feud.
