CMP suspends two officers Nayeem assault allegations, probe launched
Dhaka, June 13 -- The Chattogram Metropolitan Police (CMP) has suspended two police personnel over allegations of "unprofessional conduct" involving cricketer Nayeem Hasan, who was reportedly assaulted by officers.
The CMP also formed a three-member probe committee, Commissioner Hasan Md Showkat Ali said on Saturday.
The suspended officers are Sub-Inspector (unarmed) Shafikul Islam Bhuiyan of Khulshi Police Station and constable Md Russel Chowdhury.
Around 12pm on Saturday, the CMP commissioner and senior officers visited the national team player at his residence in Bahaddarhat Faridapara.
At 11:55am, a media statement signed by Assistant Commissioner (PR) Aminur Rashid confirmed the suspensions.
