Dhaka, April 23 -- A dispute over control of a transport workers' union office in Rajshahi has intensified into violent clashes, including a crude bomb explosion and widespread vandalism near a busy bus terminal.

Two groups clashed at the Rajshahi District Motor Workers' Union office, triggering a back-and-forth chase on Thursday, police said.

Motorcycles and the office were vandalised during the violence.

The incident took place between 4:30pm and 5:30pm near the Shiroil Bus Terminal, said Rajshahi Metropolitan Police's Additional Deputy Commissioner Gaziur Rahman.
