Dhaka, April 4 -- A biker has died in South Banasree after being run over by a Dhaka city corporation garbage truck.

The victim, 48-year-old Sazedul Islam, was a resident of Omar Ali Lane in South Banasree and was riding his scooter home.

The crash occurred around 9am on Saturday in front of a Singer showroom near Banasree Unity Hospital, said Khilgaon Police Sub-inspector Ashikur Rahman.

"Sazedul was riding his own scooter home when he was struck by the truck and died at the scene," he said.

Police rushed to the scene and took the truck into custody from an angry crowd, arresting the driver, Md Selim Babu.

"The scooter has been taken to the police station, and the body has been sent to Dhaka Medical College Hospital for postmortem,"...
