Dhaka, May 3 -- Police have submitted a charge sheet against former prime minister Sheikh Hasina and 40 others in an "attempted murder" case over the shooting of a Chhatra Dal activist in Mohammadpur, Dhaka, during the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement in 2024.

However, the investigating officer of Mohammadpur Police Station, Sub-Inspector Ferdous Zaman, recommended dropping 127 suspects from the case as they were found to have "no involvement" in the incident.

The case was filed by Chhatra Dal activist Sheikh Mohammad Ashik, who was injured in a shooting near Mohammadpur Bus Stand on Jul 19, 2024.

He had named 129 people, including Sheikh Hasina, as suspects, along with another 100-150 unidentified individuals.
