Bangladesh, Sept. 15 -- A case has been filed against a local leader of the National Citizen Party (NCP) in Gazipur's Kaliganj Upazila of Gazipur alleging that he raped a college student multiple times after promising to marry her and recorded videos of the alleged acts.

The accused, Jahidul Islam Shipon, was the joint member secretary of the NCP's Kaliganj Upazila committee. Following the allegations, he has been temporarily relieved of all party positions.

Kaliganj Police Station chief Md Zakir Hossain said the victim's sister filed the case at the police station on Monday.
