Dhaka, Oct. 1 -- A by-election will be held within 90 days to fill the reserved parliamentary seat vacated by BNP lawmaker Ferdousy Ahmed Mishti, the Election Commission has said.

Election Commissioner Abdur Rahmanel Masud outlined the plan at a briefing at the Election Commission building on Thursday.

Mishti faced allegations of involvement in the attack, looting and vandalism at the Radda MCH-FP Centre in Dhaka's Mirpur.

Amid criticism, Prime Minister Tarique Rahman instructed her to resign.

Mishti went to the speaker's office at parliament on Thursday afternoon.
