Dhaka, March 23 -- A severe fuel shortage has forced 72 petrol pumps across Bogura to suspend operations, bringing vehicular movement in the district to a near standstill and causing immense suffering for residents.

The sudden suspension of fuel supply has left commuters stranded and sparked concerns over a prolonged disruption to the local transport network.

The situation is unlikely to improve until fuel supply returns to normal, said Mizanur Rahman Ratan, president of the Bogura district unit of the Rajshahi Petroleum Owners Association.

The fuel shortage, which peaked on Monday morning, has led to the total depletion of diesel, octane, and petrol stocks at the majority of the district's filling stations.
