Dhaka, Feb. 22 -- BNP Standing Committee member Selima Rahman has been put under intensive observation in the coronary care unit (CCU) of a private hospital after suffering a heart attack.

The party's Health Affairs Secretary Dr Rafiqul Islam confirmed the incident on Sunday.

He said Selima fell ill at her Gulshan residence around 10pm on Feb 19 after experiencing a cardiac episode.

She was later rushed to a private hospital and admitted for treatment.

"She is now in the CCU under close observation by doctors," Rafiqul said.

Her family has sought prayers from the nation for her speedy recovery, he added.
