BNP MP Mishti resigns, seat declared vacant
Dhaka, Oct. 1 -- Ferdousy Ahmed Mishti, a BNP MP elected to a reserved seat for women, has resigned from parliament and her seat has been declared vacant.
The Parliament Secretariat announced her resignation and the vacancy in a notification on Thursday.
The notification said Mishti resigned on Oct 1 and that her seat became vacant the same day under Article 67(2) of the Constitution.
Parliament Secretary Md Golam Sorwar Bhuiyan signed the notification.
The Parliament Secretariat has asked the Election Commission Secretariat to take the necessary steps to fill the vacant seat. It also requested the publication of the notification in the Bangladesh Gazette.
