Dhaka, March 13 -- The medical board overseeing the care of Mirza Abbas at Evercare Hospital has decided to conduct brain surgery on the BNP leader.

BNP Health Affairs Secretary Dr Rafiqul Islam said, "The medical board of specialist doctors has taken the overall situation into consideration and decided to operate on the brain of BNP Standing Committee Member Mirza Abbas. He was taken to the operation theatre a few moments ago (around 3:10pm on Thursday)."

"He underwent a CT scan in the morning. A virtual medical board meeting was swiftly called when the report indicated a deterioration in his condition, and, after looking at everything, the decision was made to go for surgery. The consent of the family has also been obtained."
