Dhaka, May 19 -- A BNP activist has been hacked to death in the Morelganj Upazila of Bagerhat. His attackers severed his right hand and took it with them.

The incident took place on Monday night in Boulpur village of Hoglapasha Union, Morelganj Police Station chief Md Mahmudur Rahman said.

The deceased, 45-year-old Mintu Sheikh alias Mithu Sheikh, hailed from Boulpur village of Hoglapasha Union of Morelganj Upazila. He was a BNP member of Ward No. 9.

Morelganj Upazila BNP General Secretary Mehedi Hasan said, "Mintu Sheikh alias Mithu Sheikh was a dedicated worker for the party. We demand the administration arrest those involved in his murder."
