Biman's Airbus deal takes off Wednesday
Dhaka, Oct. 6 -- The government is set to sign an agreement with European aircraft manufacturer Airbus on Wednesday to acquire 10 aircraft for Biman Bangladesh Airlines.
The deal follows agreements to purchase 25 aircraft from US manufacturer Boeing, bringing the total number of aircraft the government has announced plans to acquire for Biman to 35 within seven months of the BNP government taking office.
Biman said in a statement on Tuesday that the agreement would be signed at an event titled "Spreading Our Wings Together" at Dhaka's Radisson Blu Water Garden Hotel.
The order comprises four wide-body A350-900 aircraft and six narrow-body A321neo aircraft. Neither Biman nor Airbus has disclosed the cost of the 10-aircraft deal.
