BGB blocks BSF 'push-in attempt' at Meherpur border
Dhaka, June 19 -- Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) has thwarted an alleged attempt to push four people into Bangladesh through the Meherpur border.
The move was made through Khalpara of Buripota border in Sadar Upazila, according to Lt Col Nazmul Hasan, commanding officer of BGB-6 Battalion.
The incident occurred before dawn on Friday. The BGB moved into position after local residents reported unusual activity across the zero line near the border.
According to the BGB, the Natna Border Security Force (BSF) camp under Tehatta Police Station in India's Nadia district is located opposite the area.
After being alerted by residents, BGB personnel monitored the border and spotted four people near the frontier.
