Benazir Ahmed, ex-IGP during the Awami League regime, arrested in Dubai
Dhaka, June 14 -- Benazir Ahmed, a controversial inspector general of police (IGP) during the Awami League regime, has been arrested in Dubai.
A red notice was issued by the international police agency Interpol to arrest Benazir, who stands accused in a graft case.
Dubai police arrested him with support from Interpol in a case filed by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC), a senior official at Police Headquarters confirmed to the media on Sunday afternoon.
The case against Benazir was filed on Dec 15, 2024, by ACC Deputy Director Hafizul Islam.
